People Learn Hypnosis for Different Reasons!

I learned Hypnosis about 35 years ago from my obstetrician which helped tremendously to make the birthing experiences fast and easy. Since then I have spent thousands of hours to master the modality and taught more than 3500 students of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy and I can categorize their interest:

1. A sincere interest to overcome one’s own issues and be the best version of oneself
2. A strong wish to be of service to others
3. To expand on current skills and include powerful techniques in the natural state of hypnosis
4.  A career change into something incredibly meaningful
5. To create an additional Income stream that will last until well into retirement

Read on as I expand on each point:

1. A sincere interest to overcome one’s own issues and be the best version of oneself

People feel more and more empowered to take their fate into their own hands. These people are driven by the curiosity of how their mind works and how this influences their behaviour, emotions and their body. Sometimes disillusioned that nothing they tried before brought the relief they were looking for, they learn methods which can and oftentimes do. The results can be observed by the students, which is of course wonderfully convincing what can be achieved with our own inherent powers.

2. A strong wish to be of service to others

Of the 6 human needs, the one of CONTRIBUTION and GROWTH are very important here. This is when we realize that true joy, a sense of purpose and to apply oneself in the most meaningful ways add significantly to our happiness. What could be more deeply fulfilling than to have helped another to overcome their problems? It also serves our need for SIGNIFICANCE. It builds a lot of humble confidence to facilitate and observe the positive changes in others.

3. To expand on their current skills and include powerful techniques in the natural state of hypnosis

Many professionals like, for example, nurses, doctors, psychologists, teachers, paramedics, artists, managers, and alternative therapists like Reiki practitioners, massage therapists, coaches, psychics, etc are attending because they realize that utilizing the natural state of hypnosis can make their other skills so much more effective.

4. A career change into something incredibly meaningful

Another large group of people who train with us are those who feel unfulfilled or stuck in their present occupation. The idea of being your own boss and having your own practice, perhaps part-time to start out, is appealing to many. Many also feel the need to balance their dominant right brain activity (logic, analysis) with more creative and intuitive aspects.

5. To create an additional Income stream that will last until well getting on in life has its advantages.

Getting on in life has its advantages. We have learned many life lessons and our compassion for people can reward us in later years offering a good income or additional spending money. Involving ourselves with the well-being of others reinforces our sense of importance and purpose.

Oftentimes the reasons to study hypnosis practices overlap and there are many other motives as well, like a newfound or stronger spiritual awareness or to simply use language in more beneficial ways at work, as a parent or with friends and family to create more harmony.
